How to understand about EpiServer Promotion Exclusion level

There are 2 promotion exclusion levels in EpiServer is Unit level and Order level.

Please see this example below to understand clearly about these exclusion levels.

You are setting 2 promotions namely Promotion 1 and Promotion 2, the priority for Promotion 1 is higher thang Promotion 2. The Promotion 1 should exclude Promotion 2 and versa.

So you have 2 product namely Product A and Product B in your cart and Product A are eligible to both promotions but product B is only eligible to Promotion 2.

  • If the exclusion is Unit then Product A cannot be applied both promotion, Product A only can be applied Promotion 1 and Product B has Promotion 2.
  • If the exclusion is Order then Product A still has only Promotion 1 and Product 2 even has not Promotion 2 because the exclusion is order level, so if Promotion 1 is applied in the cart then Promotion 2 cannot be applied for any other items in that same cart.
